1. Agrasen Ki Baoli
Description
Agrasen
ki Baoli, a major tourist attraction in Delhi, is protected by The
Archaeological Survey of India. The structure is believed to have been built
sometime during the Mahabharata era. The baoli is an ancient water reservoir
that stands 60 mts. long and 15 mts. wide with an assorted mosaic of 103 step
stones.

2. Azad Hind Gram
Description
One
of the leading patriotic destinations of the capital city, the Azad Hind Gram
is located at Tikri Kalan within 2 kms. of the Delhi-Haryana border. The
complex is a project helmed by the Delhi Tourism as a tribute to the valiant
freedom fighter, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Featuring
huge mosaic domes and earthen coloured interiors, the place reflects the
traditional North Indian architectural craftsmanship and style. This tourist
complex offers visitors an extravaganza of facilities including a souvenir and
garden shop, an information centre, an amphitheatre, a restaurant, food kiosks,

3. Coronation Durbar Park
Description
The
Coronation Durbar Park was set up by INTACH in 2011 as a tribute to the various
historic celebrations held at this site. Also known as the Coronation Memorial,
it was the venue of the Delhi Durbar in 1877 after Queen Victoria was declared
the Empress of India. Later in 1903, this place was used to celebrate King
Edward's assumption of the throne.
It
was used again for the coronation of King George V in the year 1911. Maintained
by the National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage in coordination with the
Government of Delhi, it houses an impressive statue of King George V. This
extraordinary memorial is worth seeking out for everyone travelling to Delhi.

4. Guru Tegh Bahadur
Smarak
Description
The
Guru Tegh Bahadur Smarak was built by Delhi Tourism to pay tribute to the ninth
Sikh guru for his martyrdom. The memorial allows visitors to witness the glory
of Guru Tegh Bahadur and offers a glimpse into his teachings and vision.
Built
across 11 acres of land, its landscape is studded with a 24 mts. high central
obelisk with three C-shaped arches representing his three closest followers.
The light and sound show in the evenings offer an informative and entertaining
spectacle and is themed around the five universal elements (Air, Water, Space,
Fire and Earth) also known as "Panchtatva."

5. Hauz Khas Fort
Description
The
Hauz Khas Fort, situated near the Hauz Khas Village is known for its amazing
architecture. Once a majestic fort, all that remains of it are the ruins of the
medieval era. The fort was constructed during the reign of Alauddin Khalji in
the 13th century. The magnificent corridors of the Hauz Khas Complex offer a
delightful view of the royal water tank, which was used to supply water to the
inhabitants of the medieval city - Siri.
The
complex houses an ancient mosque and madrasa that overlook the water tank. The
lush green lawns neighbouring the restored lake attracts many photographers and

6. Humayun's Tomb
Description
The
Humayun's Tomb is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Delhi. Built for Mughal
Emperor Humayun in the year 1570, it is the first grand dynastic garden
mausoleum of the subcontinent. The tomb was constructed on the banks of the
Yamuna river near the Nizamuddin Dargah. Spread across an area of 30 acres, it
offers a panoramic view of the majestic Char Bagh- a Persian style garden with
pools connected to intersecting water channel pathways.
The
unique octagonal shape of the monument makes it one of the finest examples of

7. India Gate
Description
Situated
in the heart of the city, the India Gate is one of the most popular and
well-known monuments in India. It was designed by Edwin Lutyens, with its
foundation laid in the year 1920. The 42 mts. high war memorial was unveiled in
the year 1933 and is a tribute to the 70,000 British soldiers who lost their
lives in various battles.
Among
the martyrs of World War I, the names of 13,500 soldiers are inscribed on the
walls of this structure. Post independence, the India Gate became a site of
"Amar Jawan Jyoti" - Indian Army's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The
running fountains and well-manicured lawns around the memorial make it a

8. Jantar Mantar
Description
The
Jantar Mantar is an astronomical masterpiece built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of
Jaipur in the year 1724. The vast observatory boasts about 13 architectural
astronomy instruments that estimate time by tracking movements of the celestial
bodies like planets, sun, moon, etc.
Among
the 13, there are four distinctive instruments known as the Ram Yantra, Samrat
Yantra, Jai Prakash Yantra, and the Misra Yantra. This spectacular site from

9. Kalam Memorial
Description
The
Kalam Memorial is hailed as one of the few memorials in the country built in
honour of India's former President - Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Located in
Dilli Haat INA and maintained by the Delhi Tourism Department, this site
attracts throngs of visitors seeking a glimpse into Dr. Kalam's life.
From
his clothes, notes, books, spectacles, writing pads, unpublished papers as well
as the utensils from his birthplace in Rameshwaram, various personal belongings

10. Lotus Temple
Description
A
classic example of Baháí Faith architecture, the Lotus Temple is one of the
most popular tourist destinations in Delhi. Designed by the Iranian architect
Fariborz Sahba, the temple derives its name from its lotus flower design that
reflects the simplicity, purity, and freshness of the Baháí religion. Its 27
independent marble petals are clustered in groups of three rings, offering the
temple distinctive nine-sided architecture that aligns with the Baháí belief in
the mystical characteristics of number nine.
While
the first ring faces outward, the second ring conceals the outer hall while the
innermost ring partially covers the prayer hall, creating an impression of a
half-open lotus surrounded by its leaves. Adding to the charm are the

Description

National Police Memorial is a magnificent structure that recognises the supreme
sacrifice made by the policemen of the country. The memorial is dedicated to
the police personnel from state and central police forces that died on duty
since India's independence in 1947.

12. National War Memorial
Description
Built

Peacekeeping Force Operations in Sri Lanka. More than 25,000 fallen soldiers

13. Purana Qila (Old Fort)
Description
India
is known for its rich cultural heritage. The Old Fort also known as 'Purana
Qila' in Urdu is one of the oldest forts of India. It is a perfect yet
aesthetic blend of Mughal, Afghan, and Hindu architecture. The construction of
the fort can be dated back to 5,000 years. It is believed to have been

14. Qutub Minar
Description
The
Qutub Minar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Delhi, built by Qutub-ud-din
Aibak of the Mamluk dynasty in the year 1193. The tower was built to celebrate
the Muslim dominance in the region right after the defeat of the last Hindu
kingdom. It is the highest tower in India standing 73 mts. (240 ft.) above the
ground and hosts 6 storeys; 3 of which are built from red sandstone while the
other 3 are built from sandstone and marble.

15. Rajpath
Description
Stretching
from Rajpath meaning 'King's Way' is a ceremonial avenue that is used during
the Republic Day every year. It is located in the central part of Delhi and
stretches from the Rashtrapati Bhavan through Vijay Chowk and India Gate,
making it easily accessible from every corner of the capital city.
Known
as one of the most important roads of India, it was designed by Edwin Lutyens,

16. Red Fort
Description
The
Red Fort also known as the Lal Quila is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Delhi.

17. Safdarjung Tomb
Description
The
Safdarjung Tomb is one of the last garden mausoleums to be built in India. The
tomb is dedicated to Safdarjung, a Persian native and a descendant of Kara
Yusuf. The mausoleum was built by his son Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula in the year
1754. The structure is built on an elevated platform from red and yellow
sandstone and the dome is built from white marble.
The
tomb is surrounded by huge lush green gardens that host a library and madrasa
that is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The monument is
in close proximity to the airport; hence, most of the tourists visiting Delhi

18. Tughlaqabad Fort
Description
Located
on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, the Tughlaqabad Fort was built by Ghiyas-ud-din
Tughlaq of the Tughlaq dynasty in the year 1321. The majestic fort reflects the
architectural style of the Tughlaq dynasty that reigned over Delhi for almost a
century. Originally, the fort was built on a rocky terrain amidst a vast water
reservoir to defend it from any possible invaders.
In
spite of its construction completing in four years, the structure was abandoned
15 years later due to the superstition of a curse by a saint. Drawing large
numbers of tourists every year, this site has emerged as the perfect
destination for photographers.
